How To Have It All

Woman at lake

If we didn’t want to move forward in life, I’m not quite sure we’d be truly living. In an expansive Universe, we can’t help but want to expand. Which leads us to ask...how can we have it all?

I for one think there’s nothing wrong with the quest for more, so long as the things and experiences we want are rooted in something deeper than societal pressures & expectations.

There are a few key ingredients to help you have it all:

1. Know your why

Ok, so I totally get how played out this whole “why” thing is - but there’s a reason. Knowing why you want something will inspire you to the people and places to help you make it happen. It inspires the people around you to get on board - whether that means collaborating with you, lending a helping hand or even their dollars. Your why is some powerful s**t. It also keeps you attuned to your desires when it seems easier to drop by the wayside. Your why will pull you to your vision - no need for “pushing” here.

2. Deciding what all means to you

Also known as having a vision. Obviously one of the most important steps to getting what you want is knowing what that is. But let’s take this further. By having a vision, you can choose the pieces to your life puzzle - you can envision what you want in your love life, your home, the work you do in this world, the money you make, the places you visit. Creating your vision is your opportunity to decide what all really means to you. This is your chance to dig a little deeper and ask yourself some meaningful questions, like:

What matters most to me?How do I want to spend my time? What are my core values? How do I want to feel in my relationships/work/life, etc.?What’s a perfect day for me?What keeps me feeling aligned and alive?

3. Aligning to your vision

Once you know what you want, the first thing you gotta do is believe it will happen. You gotta feel now the way you think you’ll feel when you have - that love, that money, or your dream home. This kind of deep trust and feeling work takes practice and you can do so by using the following three buckets:

1.Thoughts: while it’s not physically possible to monitor every single thought you have, what you can do is notice how you feel. When you get that icky feeling of doubt, anxiety or lack in your stomach (or wherever you might specifically feel it), stop and ask yourself the following questions:

What was I thinking that made me feel this way?And what can I think instead to get me to a better feeling place?

When you get that negative feeling, it’s always because you’re thinking a thought opposite to what you want. The first step to getting what you want is to practice having thoughts that affirm what you do want - not what you don’t.

2.Words: Just like thoughts, words can either align to your desires and empower you, or they can enforce what you don’t want and limit you. Choose words that align with your dreams; talk about how you’re excited to create this, that or the other thing - not the things that are standing in your way.

3.Actions: Whatever your vision, you gotta be intentional about carving out the time to actually live it. If you want more creative time, get to crafting. If you envision yourself spending time in the outdoors, get out there! If you imagine yourself to be a public speaker, start offering to speak at different venues and events for free. You have the power to choose how you spend your time (perhaps a little less time on social media and a little more time on what you love :))

4. Be flexible

Knowing what you want is crucial. Knowing why you want it is even more important. Where you don’t want to get tripped up, is in the “how” of things. By aligning to your vision with your thoughts, words and actions you are doing all the necessary “work”. Be flexible with how and when things come around; this is where trust comes in pretty handy.

5. Accept the seasons

The key to having it all is being more than fine with the pieces of your vision coming together in different seasons of your life. Sometimes we can’t have it all right now - and really, what would be the fun of that anyway? Our lives are a work in progress, and if we had everything we wanted today, all at the same time (as tempting as that sounds), we’d have nothing left to grow into. With that being said, you can also accept that you have it “all” right now - meaning appreciating what you do already have, and stepping into the feeling of having the rest - even though you don’t quite see it yet.

You see, knowing that you will have the life you envision will give you the conviction you need to draw in the right people and the clarity to see the opportunities and signs that will lead you there. So sit back and enjoy the unfolding because this right here, right now, is your life - and you don’t want to miss it!

Peace, love & having it all,

Diana
