Dating Advice: It's All About You

A few months ago, I had my very first meetup for Ask Diana - and it was amazing. We discussed the article “Too Much Too Soon” and touched on some important points. One of them being, it’s all about you.

This is some great dating advice, so let me explain.

Too often we think of things from an external point of view. To put it in context, we were talking about why it’s important to go slow when we first start dating someone. One girl mentioned that she didn’t like the idea of going slow to appease the guy or to keep him around - hallelujah sister, I couldn’t agree more! That’s when it hit me, it’s all about you...I mean me.

When you take things slow, especially with respect to dating, it should be because of how much you value yourself - not about trying this, that, or the other thing, as a means of trapping your dude; because not only is that tiring as hell, it’s confusing, hard to keep up with and worst of all, it undermines YOU.

If you look at things from the perspective of how to keep someone around, you’ll always trip up and find yourself wondering what the hell to do. But if you look at it from the angle of what truly reflects your (high) value (of course, the first step is seeing yourself as valuable), you will always (or almost always) know exactly what to do, and maybe even more important - what not to do.

You know when something doesn’t feel right, even if you don’t always listen. But, by learning how to tap into that feeling and actually freaking listen to it (I mean would you keep speaking up if no one ever listened?), that little voice who gently whispers yes and forcefully yells no, will likely feel more inspired to pop up a lot more often. And that voice will tell you when something’s right for you, and when it’s not; and this will inevitably help you keep your distance from the people that don’t deserve your time and make it much easier to recognize the ones who do.

A girl jumps into things with little regard for herself; a woman takes her time, and knows how downright amazing she is.

Peace, love and all about you,

Diana
