Instead of Getting Defensive, Try This

Woman with letterboard

It’s amazing.

We get so defensive when our partner (or anyone, really) points out something about us that we don’t quite love.

Granted, this can be triggering, unjustified, and abusive in some cases. I’m talking about outside of those circumstances.

Let’s first remember that we are only truly offended by something we kind of already believe - otherwise, it would be easy to shrug it off.

And then...what if we tried to see it as a gift: a key to unlocking something within us, a better understanding of ourselves.

This is what we call choosing love over fear

taking the same situation and seeing it from a softer, more forgiving lens.

Choosing love over fear isn’t weakness - it takes mega emotional and mental strength to see from this perspective.

It also doesn’t mean loving someone else more than yourself - in fact, the more you practice seeing yourself from a loving lens, the less your buttons will be pushed, and the easier it is to choose love with others.

So I ask you to strongly consider: how would your relationships shift if you chose love over fear more often than not?

I’d seriously love to know!

With love,
Diana
